Lakeridge Elementary Recycling ClubStudents in grades three through five are invited to participate in Lakeridge's Recycling Club. This club is dedicated to servant leadership, where students are encouraged to assume leadership positions through their service to the school. We recycle Mondays at 12:55 p.m. and on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. Students may sign up to recycle at lunch on recycling days, outside the MPR. There are certain restrictions about what we can recycle. Listen to Arjun, a member of the Recycling Club, explain what can and cannot be recycled. Arjun also helped design a poster that you can print out and post in your classroom to remind you and your students what can and cannot be recycled. Annabelle Gurwitch wrote a great piece that was broadcast on KUOW about what happens when your recycling is picked up and processed. Mr. Brown, the sanitation worker who picks up the recycling in Ms. Gurwitch's neighborhood, estimates that fully 1/3 of items put in the recycling bins should not be recycled.
