West Mercer School Improvement Plan
West Mercer Vision Statement, Beliefs and Goals
Our Vision Statement:
- To create a place where every student learns as much and as well as
he/she possibly can...
- To create a place where every teacher teaches as well as he/she possibly
can...
- To create a place where every student, staff member, parent, and volunteer
wants to be because they feel safe, competent, valued, and it makes
a positive difference that they are, in fact, a part of West Mercer.
West Mercer Beliefs:
West Mercer is a community of caring students, staff, and parents who
share joint responsibility to model, support, and facilitate the following
beliefs:
- All learners succeed in a safe, secure environment where the individual
is valued.
- Individuals learn when provided a variety of equitable and appropriate
opportunities.
- All learners have unique talents which will be encouraged, valued,
and respected.
- Attention must be focused on all aspects of the development and growth
of a whole child.
- Factors beyond the school's control affect learning.
- Communication among teachers and parents is vital to best meet the
needs of students.
- Students progress at different rates but all are able to progress.
- Progression in learning is most successful when critical and creative
thinking are present; when humor is encouraged; and when cooperation,
as well as constructive competition is promoted.
Our Goals:
- To improve all West Mercer K-5 students' student literacy skills.
- To enable all West Mercer teachers to further develop knowledge of
and skills in assessment focused on improving teaching and learning.
- To improve communications between school and
home.
- To implement technology use in order to meet district &
site benchmarks while using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
