11-12 Schedule

The sixth grade band is an exciting year of expanding our musical technique as musicians. The sixth grade band meets every other day, and meets in much smaller groups. Students will notice some obvious differences from 5th grade band, as well as some similarities. The band will typically meet in small groups of differing instrumentation. Our required technique book will be Essential Elements 2000, Book 2, Hal Leonard Publications. The class will emphasize structured skill development in a fun and non-threatening environment. Enrichment opportunities for small ensemble playing are available for motivated students. Uniforms will be a white Class of 2015 sweatshirt and blue-colored jeans.

Students will have periodic graded playing tests, as well as required practice records, provided in class. Please continue to refer to this website for periodic updates of upcoming student requirements and performances. A course guide will be provided to students at the beginning of school and to parents at curriculum night. Please note the dates of performances for the year, listed on this site. Participation at all concerts is required, and a significantly weighted and important part of each student’s grade.
