Pat Blix, MIHS Interim Principal, set to meet parents in November

Dr. Plano recently named retired Mercer Island administrator, Patricia Blix, as Interim Principal of Mercer Island High School, effective November 4, 2011.  Ms. Blix will meet with high school parents on Tuesday November 15, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Library at a PTSA Fall Membership Meeting. For parents and others who prefer a daytime meeting, Ms. Blix will be available to greet parents on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. during a PTSA coffee in the Library Presentation Room.

Patricia Blix has 18 years experience in secondary administration. She served as long-time middle school principal in the Renton School District. Blix also served in international schools as secondary principal in Israel, England and the Philippines. Pat was Interim Principal at West Mercer Elementary from 2006 until 2008. Many of our freshmen and sophomore students and parents already know Ms. Blix from her leadership at WM. Ms. Blix is presently studying Spanish on a study trip to Guatemala. She plans to return to Washington to begin her new position on November 4, 2011. Craig Olson will be acting principal beginning on October 14, 2011 until Ms. Blix arrives.

Superintendent Gary Plano intends to work closely with the high school staff and students, our parent community, and his management team to begin the search process for the next high school principal, whose planned start date is July 1, 2012.
