District Advisory Council 2011-2012
Purpose
The District Advisory Council
is a representative body that will communicate with stakeholder groups
and advise the Superintendent on policy matters and the district's instructional
program that helps students successfully achieve the Board's 2020 Vision.
Role
The
role of District Advisory Council members will be:
- to advise the Superintendent
on issues/decisions and/or policy matters that the district is facing;
- to be informed
about the background, rationale, and decision-making processes made
by the district throughout the year as issues arise;
- to communicate
issues and concerns raised by various stakeholders as represented by
District Advisory Council members;
- to share the District's
vision/mission with a variety of representative groups; and
- to accurately represent
the whole constituency
Membership
The
District Advisory Council is appointed and is comprised of students, staff,
and community representatives recommended by the following groups:

1 teacher from each school (5 total)

1 classified employee

1 Mercer Island Education Association representative
- 1
Principal representative

1 Director
-
1 parent from each school (5 total)

2 PTA District Council Representatives (current and past presidents)

2 MIHS students selected by the principal

8 community members selected by:

club (rotated bi-annually between clubs)

- Mercer

of Women Voters
