MIHS Drama Season 2008-09

Fall

The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
by Bertolt Brecht
Original Musical Score by Leeran Raphaely
Nov 13-15/20-22

Set amid the economic turmoil of gangster-controlled Chicago in the 1930s, the play is a direct and thinly veiled attack on German apathy towards the threat of Hitler's rise to power, and a warning to future generations.

Winter

Wild Oats
By John O’Keeffe
Jan 28-31/Feb 4-7

Everybody’s favorite – audience-involved dinner theatre -- is back! This time with an ingenious Valentine to Shakespeare and the theatre created by 18th century playwright, John O’Keeffe. The story is filled with lost families, mistaken identities, disguises, eccentric characters and a delightful parade of non-stop action.

Spring

Big Love
By Charles Mee
May 7-9/14-16

A brawling, sprawling story of 50 runaway brides who flee to an Italian villa to escape their arranged marriages. When the head of the villa denies asylum to the brides, mayhem ensues. It is the battle of the sexes on steroids - exposing the underpinnings of arranged marriages, abuse, societal expectations, fear, confusion, masculinity, femininity, sexuality and hope. At once tragic and satirical, the brutal end expresses our despair and yet offers the possibility of redemption.

Also, watch out for the spontaneous Improv shows that pop up now and then, especially at the end of each semester. Garunteed fun for the whole family!!!
